Apologies in advance for lulling you here (Mwahahaha) under the implication I am today blogging about vasectomies, hysterectomies, or any ‘ectomies’ for that matter… Because I’m not.
No. What I am discussing is FAR more important, MUCH more serious and CERTAINLY effects a much wider audience… (And no. It’s not my Vagina.) (This time.)
Yes… I’m here addressing the BIG STUFF and asking the question all parents ask… The ultimate parental toddler-hood dilemma… If and when I should cut the toddler’s hair…
To snip, or not to snip…
The toddler’s unruly mane.
It eats all the hairslides, and devours whole mincepies,
But I’m scared that she’ll never look the same…
To chop, or not to chop…
The toddler’s golden ‘fro.
I’m struggling to find head-gear, which the fuzz won’t domineer,
But I couldn’t stand for those ringlets to go.
To trim, or not to trim…
The toddler’s unchallenged mop.
I can’t take it any taller, but I’d hate it to get smaller;
As soon as the scissors get near I’ll yell ‘STOP!’
To cut, or not to cut…
The toddler’s untameable tress.
She looks quite a scruff, with her top-heavy fluff,
But it’s just such a beautiful mess…
So to snip, or not to snip…
I think I’ll only trim the fringe.
But I’ll leave the rest alone, let it become over-grown,
And instead treat myself to a few Mummy-Gins.

Eugh, I have this issue with my son. When he's freshly bathed, his hair looks good. After a couple days he looks like nick nolte (and not a good picture either)…we're debating this, but everyone tells us not to.
ReplyIt's such a tough one! I'm contemplating doing the very ends myself while she sleeps… but I'll probably end up shaving her by accident and stabbing a cat. #thosethingscouldhappenforsure 🙂 x lol x
ReplyHer hair is gorgeous, don't cut it. I cut my 18-month old's hair today and am still traumatised. He had as much hair as your daughter, but with a boy you can't even use any hair accessories. FYI, with my daughter, I used adult hair slides/clips, they hold much better than ones designed for kids.
ReplyHa 😉 I don;t reckon I could bring myself… She's mostly wearing a hat now anyway right 🙂 lol x good tip re the clips. I reckon I've bought and lost approx 4 million to date… *sighs*
ReplyI cut my daughters hair at 16 month old, (about 8 weeks) ago because she couldn't see anything any more and it was winding her up, not to mention becoming really dangerous..the only thing i regret about this..is she looks so grown up now! :(..the baby has officially left the building x
ReplyI can imagine! Mine doesn't need any help not looking like a baby anymore… at least it curls mostly out of her eyes, sometimes.., sort of… :/ lol x
ReplyDon't cut it – its lovely!!
ReplyFunnily i wrote a post to whether to cut my sons hair, he's just 3 and has blonde ringlets. I love it but people keep referring to him as a she!
Lol 😉 I don't think I can do it! Hey at least he looks different… You really shouldn't put him in a dress tho… Ha! Joking :))) lol x
ReplyAh but if you cut it then there's no need to buy hair clips which means more money for gin? 😉
ReplyThat, my dear lady, is a shitting excellent point. 🙂 Pahaha x
ReplyI almost burst into tears this week in the hair dressers when they cut my son's hair. They took all his blonde! I'm not usually sentimental but now he looks about four. *wails*
ReplyOh no! This is defo what I'm afraid of! Reckon I'll be steering clear of the hairdressers for the mo 😉 lol xx
ReplyI'm in the same boat. I don't want to cut the curls, but the ends look terrible and are constantly tangled. I think I am going to be forced to do it 🙁
ReplyYes it's so tough 🙁 I'm so scared the curls will get sheered of at the same time! x
ReplyMy son got so many "oh isn't she keeping quiet" comments in the supermarket the other day (he was eating a giant baguette), it was ridiculous. But my husband made me cut the curls on my other two too early so this one is going to be my Rapunzel!
ReplyHaha 😉 and so he should be! Lol xxx thanks for the comment :))) x
ReplyWe have Einstein hair in this house too! My dearest daughter looks dreadful any time other than immediately after her hair wash. A bush of tangled curls and ringlets and the odd fuzzy fluffy bits.
ReplySoI took the scissors to it myself just over a week ago. I just figured that as long as it was so curly then any bodge job I did wouldn't show. I was right 🙂 She still has messy hair but not so much, and I think just trimming the ends made a difference.
Oh and to make sure she sat still…I gave her my phone to play games with 😉
haha – yes,we have the mad professor look going on most mornings too! x I reckon ur right – trimming the ends is the way to go! :))) x
ReplyGood luck !! I say snip and live with the fall out
ReplyIn the end we did it! 😉 x
